Douglas R. Debenham, MD
Douglas Debenham, MD was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. After living in Virginia and California he moved to Anchorage, Alaska in1969. He returned to Alaska to practice medicine and work at the new Valley Radiation Therapy Center in 2006. Prior to relocating back to Alaska, Dr. Debenham received his baccalaureate degree in Engineering, graduating Cum Laude from Texas A&M University. He then went to work for General Electric Co. in California. The corporate world left him unfulfilled and with a desire to make a difference in the lives of others. He resigned his position with General Electric to pursue a calling in the field of medicine.
After graduation from the University of Nevada, School of Medicine in 1990, Dr. Debenham completed an Internal Medicine internship in Nevada. He completed his residency at the Ireland Cancer Center of Case Western Reserve University Hospitals in the field Radiation Oncology. While in Cleveland Dr. Debenham was active in numerous research protocols and presented original work concerning radioimmunoguided brachytherapy for Prostate cancer. He also initiated a research project to review the results of stereotactic radiosurgery for acoustic neuromas.
After finishing his training in Cleveland, Dr. Debenham held the position of Director of Radiation Oncology at the Crossroads Cancer Center, an integrated Medical and Radiation Oncology practice in central Illinois. Later he was named the principle investigator for the clinical trials organization at the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group for Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah.
Alaska beckoning, the opportunity arose to return to his Alaska roots in 2006. He joins Dr. Richard Chung in practice where he serves as Medical Director at the new Valley Radiation Therapy Center.

Hobbies/Interests:
Dr. Debenham has a commitment to family and community and has served in volunteer positions with the Boy Scouts of America, the National Ski Patrol, as well as other local and national organizations. He enjoys road marathon and trail running, bicycling, reading, skiing, hiking and music. He and his wife Laura (Lollie) have seven children.
