Dr. Richard Chung, MD

Dr. Richard Chung, MD
Dr. Richard T. Chung, MD attended undergraduate school at Stanford University and medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1994 he completed his residency at Stanford in the field of radiation oncology. Fascinated by Alaska, Dr. Chung relocated to Anchorage that same year to practice his passion – oncology – at the Anchorage Radiation Therapy Center. Since then, he has been a champion of bringing new radiation therapy technologies to the community so that patients and their families can receive cancer treatment close to home. In 2006 Dr. Chung and the Anchorage Radiation Therapy Center opened a satellite facility to better serve the growing Mat-Su community.

Dr. Clare Bertucio, MD

Dr. Clare Bertucio, MD
Dr. Clare S. Bertucio, MD earned her degree from Mayo Medical School and completed her residency at the University of California, San Francisco. Before coming to the Anchorage & Valley Radiation Therapy Centers in 2009, she was the medical director at the Olympic Medical Cancer Center in Sequim, Washington.
Dr. Bertucio chose to practice oncology while watching her own father’s struggle with cancer. Inspired by the physicians who cared for her father, Dr. Bertucio became a radiation oncologist to help others battle the disease.
“I have always wanted to be a physician and I am not disappointed with my choice!” she explains. “I feel privileged to be a part of people’s lives as they move through the difficult and challenging days that characterize cancer treatment.”

Dr. M. Kara Bucci, MD

Dr. Kara Bucci, MD
Dr. M. Kara Bucci, MD is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School and completed her residency at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Before joining Anchorage & Valley Radiation Therapy Centers, Dr. Bucci practiced at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Advanced Radiation Centers in New York, and the University of California, San Francisco. She specializes in stereotactic body radiotherapy, a state-of-the-art therapy that uses focused radiation beams to deliver each dose with extreme accuracy.
A nationally known expert in the fields of head and neck cancer, and thoracic/lung cancer, Dr. Bucci has recently been selected as a Best Doctor in America (Best Doctors in America® on-line resource), and one of America’s Top Oncologists (America’s Top Doctors® published book and on-line resource).
Dr. Bucci’s attitude toward cancer treatment is refreshingly positive. “We can cure most cancers when they’re caught early,” she explains. “It’s a scary diagnosis, and treatment can be an ordeal, but people get better; and I find that to be hopeful.”
